Latest Homes For Sale In Inman
Small farmhouses scattered the northwest area of Spartanburg County until the mid 1870’s. In 1876, local landowner, William Goens offered a tract of land to the rail company free of charge. With the rail depot, a small retail district sprang up and the community took shape and Inman was named after Southern Railway executive, John Hamilton Inman.
In 1901, James A. Chapman opened and operated a small local mill. By 1934, Inman Mills was one of the largest textile plants in the county, employing 600 workers. Inman Mills is operational to this day.
Today, Inman is a thriving community and has become a popular area for new housing developments. Inman is home to Chapman High School – named after James A Chapman.
